Owner’s Description
The Lake Monroe Midwest Messabout is an informal gathering of persons interested in messing about in small boats — all kinds of small boats…. paddle, sail, power, rowing, and/or pedal.
You do not need to own or bring a boat to attend. Many messers are boatbuilders, but the only requisite to attend is that you enjoy small boats.
There are typically plenty of boats available to allow everyone to get out on the water. If you’re just thinking about building a boat, bring the plans — every small boat enthusiast enjoys looking at boat plans.
Many messers arrive on Friday to stretch out the weekend. Saturday is a largely unstructured day of messing about in boats with a pitch-in dinner and campfire in the evening.
The messabout is always during the weekend which contains the third Sunday of September. It’s a wholesome family event, so bring the entire family and join us for a weekend of nautical fun.
