Raid Pomerania

‘Raid Pomerania’ is a cyclic, non-commercial event managed by volunteers who have formed an international sailing group to explore the coasts of the historic region ‘Pomerania’, now in the German/Polish/Swedish Euroregion. It proudly flies the burgee of the Dinghy Cruising Association, as most of our active community are members of this organisation, a north European sailing community with little formal structure. It also uses the pages of the DCA journal for announcing and then reporting its events.
In its general approach, Raid Pomerania continues the traditions of earlier Finnish and Polish rallies. It started in 2015 at Szczecin (Poland), and headed northwest towards Rügen Island (Germany). The fleet consists of small sailing craft of any kind. The concept behind the raid depends on starting each year from the last reached point, with the aim of completing another stage of the overall plan.
The final destination of each individual leg depends on the winds and how they affect progress. The planned 2020-2022 events were cancelled due to sars-cov causing uncertainty about the viability of crossing borders. We expect to continue our plans in 2023.
