20' Evanson Celebrity C/B Sloop (1978)

The Celebrity Centerboard Sloop is described on the Southport Island Marine website as a handsome, handy, able, dry, and fast centerboard daysailer, long a favorite of shallow water sailors who appreciate its classic lines and able performance.

In 1951, while traveling in Northern Holland, Stan Evanson was impressed by the sleek hull design of a Dutch boat design dating back to the 1920s. He decided to incorporate the hull lines in the design of a new sloop-rigged boat for the U.S. and in cooperation with Johann Wester, designed a similar boat.

Early Celebrities were strip-planked mahogany, which evolved to molded plywood, and then in the 70’s to fiberglass, along with other design improvements. The boats are fast and responsive, while being roomy and comfortable to sail. The rig is set up for easy stepping and un-stepping, and the boats have positive flotation.

Little Wing comes extensively refitted and ready to sail. The hull has been faired for speed and has an epoxy barrier coat. The bottom, topsides and deck have been painted. See photos for the SeaDek decking. Ullman sails are in new condition as are halyards, sheets, lines, etc. We have added Harken roller furling and traveler. The Torqueedo electric outboard has cockpit controls and a below-deck battery. Anchor and rode, dock lines, bumpers, etc. and many accessories are included. Little Wing has a custom boat cover and comes with its trailer.
