Description
Kath-Ell was designed by C.A. Malcom and built in Gibsons, B.C. in 1947. She is planked with red cedar, has oak frames, and iron bark cap rails and guard rails. New in late 2023: Jatoba anchor guard and ice sheeting, Port Orford clear cedar bulwarks, selected red cedar fore deck planks, fore and aft deck covered with 4 coats Tuff-Flex polymer (watertight, no leaks). All work done professionally by Port Townsend Shipwrights CO-OP.
Kath-Ell is powered by a Volvo MD 47B diesel engine (110 hp) and burns 1 gal per hour at 1300 rpm, doing 6.5 kn. She is keel cooled with a dry stack exhaust and runs very quietly and reliably. Electronics and hydraulics are in great working condition. Sleeps three, has hot and cold running water, refrigerator and freezer, Pacific Diesel stove, two burner alcohol stove. Great storage capacity. Stabilizing poles.
