WHISPER is a fine example of the classic 39 foot Concordia yawl. Constructed in 1957, she is hull #56 of the 99 yawls built by Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany. She has been upgraded and dutifully maintained at a very high standard by her current owner for the past 37 years – with a priority placed on maintaining originality as much as possible. WHISPER has a fractional rig with a club footed jib and a roller furling genoa with triple mainsheet blocks and genoa winches consistent with the original design. The only modification to her sailing inventory is an aluminum spinnaker/whisker pole. All instruments, chart plotter/radar, speed and depth, are kept out of sight via swing-out companionway brackets. Below, the warm, pine paneled and skylight illuminated cabin is a special display of craftsmanship. The galley ice box has been upgraded with vacuum bagged, closed celled insulation, and pressure hot water at the sink and cockpit shower enhance cruising comfort. The original Concordia cooking stove has been upgraded with an Origo alcohol two burner unit. A bronze spray hood over the companionway and full dodger help to provide a snug cockpit on wet passages. Sunbrella covers for the skylight, forward hatch, sail covers and companionway are all new within the last three years. WHISPER is truly a classic example of this desirable and successful Hunt/Howland design. She has been well cared for and is in excellent condition.
