14' Wolstenholme Swallow Daysailer (2003) - LUCY

General:
Lucy was the first boat built from the new Swallow design by Andrew Wolstenholme and was a logical development of his popular Mallard 12′ and Coot 11′ dinghies.
It is a spacious dayboat which can also be sailed fast either single-handed or with crew. The boat carries 123 sq.ft. of sail and is gunter rigged with the yard held parallel to the mast. The hull is of traditional appearance with 10 planks per side. The epoxy-glued lapstrake planks in 6mm ply combine with watertight compartments to make a light-weight and strong monocoque hull. Auxiliary power is provided by a Honda 2.3hp and oars.

Notes from the builder – Nick Hanbury

I originally approached Andrew Wolstenholme to design an ideal sailing dinghy for estuary use in South Devon. It needed to be lightweight but big enough to sit on a mooring during the summer months. Lucy is beautifully balanced with a light helm and sails happily in a light F1 breeze. The hull is very stable and forgiving in all weather conditions. I have sailed Lucy in and around the Salcombe Estuary for the past 19 years. Price in US Dollars
