Description
Selling my 1993 Herreshoff 12 1/2 Doughdish built by EDEY and DUFF. I’ve owned the boat for 20 years and it’s the nicest one you’ll find – better than the new ones and here’s why;
-Every inch of the boat was sanded down and professionally faired – it’s perfectly smooth
-All of the painted surfaces were sprayed with AwlGrip paint
-The bottom was stripped down, epoxy coated, epoxy primed, and finished with Petit bottom paint (it has not been in the water since then)
-All of the brightwork was stripped down and everything received at least 10 coats of Awlgrip M3131 varnish, as well as Awlbrite clear coating for protection (all of the wood looks better than when it was new)
-All the hardware was upgraded with bronze Reinecke hardware
-Custom Teak Transom (Very few 12.5’s have a wood transom)
-Custom wood plank inlays on the cockpit sides
-Gaff Rig
-Quantum Sails
-Triad Trailer (new tires, lights, etc)
If you were to order a new one today with these specifications it would cost over $60k. This particular example is better than a new one and doesn’t need anything aside from a new home.

The Doughdish is a fiberglass reproduction of the original Herreshoff 12 1/2 footer. It is constructed in foam sandwich fiberglass with teak trim. It is built to the exact hull dimensions and rig of the sloops designed by N. G. Herreshoff in 1914. As a result, they can compete against the wooden boats in class races and regattas (unlike the other 12 1/2 reproductions).
