Description
One of a pedigree of boats designed by Ruud vanVeelen of Puuvenepiste to win the Sulkava rowing races in Finland, the Savo 575S is a fast, seaworthy, beautiful sliding seat rowing boat. At just under 19 feet in length, with a beam of four feet, two feet of freeboard, and weighing around 80 pounds, this car-toppable boat is a great year-round rowing trainer, swift recreational tourer, and voluminous expedition boat. The Savo 575 and its larger sibling, the double Savo 650, have performed remarkably well in long distance open water races, such as the Seventy48 and the Race to Alaska. Indeed, “Team of One” recently completed the 750 mile Race to Alaska in 16 days rowing a Savo 575.
This particular boat was professionally built by Great Bear Boatworks out of 6mm Joubert Okoume plywood with clear grain Sitka Spruce and African Mahogany structural members and Padauk highlights. The boat was fastened using System Three epoxy and finished with Alex Seal’s two part polyurethane 501 paint and clear coat systems.
The sale includes a pair of oars specifically designed for the Savo boats and the Poseidon sliding seat and foot stretcher system. If desired, a lightly used Trailex SUT-350ST trailer can be included for a total sale price of $10,500.
Delivery at cost available in the western United States and Canada.
