Description
The Swedish Tumlaren was drafted by Knud Reimers in 1936. Elizabeth was built in New Zealand to the original plans over the 1950s and has been restored from the bare hull by a qualified New Zealand shipwright in 2022.
The kauri hull as been splined and epoxied. The wooden ribs were sound with the original copper rivets being retained.
The lead keel was removed and the original copper bolts remain sound.
An epoxy glass plywood deck was laid over new laminated deck beams. Varnished coamings and a bespoke forward hatch cover with bronze port lights completes the cabin top.
The cockpit and interior cabin has a painted plywood floor to the stepped mast.
The rig has a new keel stepped aluminum fractional rig and boom, stainless steel rigging and internal chain plates.
A new sail wardrobe consists of a battened reefing mainsail, genoa, #1 jib and spinnaker all complying to the Tumlaren measurements.
A hardwood bracket carries a new 3 HP our board engine which can be easily removed.The inventory includes a steering compass, Rocna anchor, fitted manual bilge pump, 2 deck winches, 1 coach roof winch, winch handles, a variety of new sheets, mainsail cover, cockpit canvas cover, a purpose built steel cradle for the hardstand.
The Tumlaren class has had a worldwide resurgence in recent years as an affordable, practical, short crewed classic yacht suitable for racing, day sailing and cruising.
