Description
This little ship has quite a history. Built by my father Curtis D Nixon in Michigan. Oak keel/framing (Bay City Boats), mahogany planks and cabin, teak deck (replaced), Sitka spruce spars, gaff rig, fully equipped, newer sails, stove, holding tank, engine. Launched in 1955. Sept 1958-Sept 1959 our family of 8 lived onboard, Detroit-Bahamas-Detroit. Sold in 1962, located, repurchased and returned to Detroit 1987 (I am the fifth owner). Sailed Lake Erie thru Sept 2008, prize winner at regional wooden boat shows, including “bristol fashion”. Partial hull repairs begun in spring 2009, but remain unfinished (see photos). In indoor climate-controlled storage (Safe Harbor Marina, Lasalle MI) since 2008. Looking for a new home, so Trade Wind’s repairs can be completed and she can sail again. I have all of the original blueprints/plans. Documented vessel. All offers considered. Additional photos on request, also story written in 2008 with additional pictures, and a video. Current status of hull most important (12 photo max).
