Description
A lovely classic sailboat looking for a new steward. An enduring beauty, Pantouf is a real gem, turning heads everywhere she goes.
Over the years, she has been sailed extensively in Fishers Island, Block Island, & Long Island Sounds. A fine, sea-worthy boat, she’s well-balanced under sail, and supremely comfortable under way and at anchor. She also responds wonderfully under power, backs beautifully, is easy to handle around docks.
Pantouf was designed by Samuel Crocker and built by Chute & Bixby of Huntington, L.I. In 2002, she went through a major rebuild by Nathan Greeley, of Portsmouth N.H. She has been meticulously maintained, hauled yearly, regularly painted & varnished, last surveyed 2021.
Pantouf has a comfortable, roomy cockpit and wide side decks. Below, she has a traditional cabin plan, sleeping up to 6, including large v-berth forward (new cushions), double berth in main salon to starboard, single berth portside, and large berth under starboard aft deck. The main salon features a traditional drop-leaf table amidships, a navigation station to starboard, and galley portside aft, featuring Origo alcohol stove, double-bay stainless steel sink with pressurized cold water, and large well-insulated ice chest.
Throughout the cabin, there is ample storage, with lockers, bookshelves, compartments, and under-bunk storage areas. For ambient light and ventilation, there are 2 overhead teak skylights, and 8 bronze opening portholes. The atmosphere is enhanced with a coal-fire cabin heater.Pantouf is ketch rigged, spars are sitka spruce, standing rigging is stainless wire with poured ends. Running rigging is 3-strand Dacron. The sails consist of a full, custom cut mainsail as well as an Evolution mizzen and jib (both new in 2012). All deck hardware is bronze. New sail covers 2022. Custom made canvas cockpit canopy.
The hull is mahogany carvel planked over oak frames. She has a full keel, hot dipped galvanized keel bolts, and cast iron ballast.
The deck is a laminated plywood sub-deck with a laid teak overlay.Electronics, electrical, navigation:
