Comments: SERIANNA’s double planked hull and main sub deck were exquisitely built by French & Webb, builders in Belfast, ME. At the same time, in our Cushing Shop, we were forming and finishing to size & bevel all laminated Alaskan Yellow Cedar deck and cabin roof beams & applying clear finish – to the final satin coat; Cutting to length & threading the structural bronze rod for the back bone & floor timbers (& for the SS Shoe – Monel rod); milling out & finishing Atlantic white cedar strips with chamfered edges for the interior hull Ceiling; milling out Port Orford Cedar for all bulkheads with V groove & splined edge joints; milling out the 3/4” by 3 1/2” T&G yellow cedar first layer of the main decks and cabin overheads, including sanding and applying to the final satin finish on the underside of each piece. After the hull with deck beams and the T&G main sub deck were completed, the hull was transported from French & Webb to our shop in Cushing where we continued construction and over an extended period brought her to completion & launched in 2013.
SERIANNA has proven to be an especially able & comfortable cruising vessel for my late wife Paula & myself. She has an easy motion in a seaway. Our many cruises include Down East along the Maine Coast; numerous runs to the Nova Scotia coast, and in 2016 we ran her to Newfoundland and cruised the whole South Coast. SERIANNA’s topsides and the painted superstructure are all finished in Epifanes gloss (over the Clear Coat Epoxy sealing base on the vertical superstructure) & this stands up extremely well – requiring a fresh coat only about every 4th year. The aft deck & cabin roofs are sheathed with Dynel using epoxy resin, and Awlgrip finish was applied. All exterior Teak is vertical grain left bare and has weathered nicely. This greatly cuts down on maintenance vs if the teak had been finished in gloss varnish.
SERIANNA is being offered only because of my advancing age, and thus we are seeking a new steward who will truly appreciate her. She has been / is stored in her boat house in Rockland, ME which has a wonderful Damp Ground floor and she does Not dry out – summer or winter. The damp ground floor has a 3” layer of crushed granite on top so no grit is tracked aboard.
