Description
1966 32’ Pearson Vanguard. LOA 32,9”. Beam 9’3”. Draft 4’5”. Designed by Phillip Rhodes and built Rhode Is. USA. These deserve the “legendary “ status attributed them. My first passage was home from USVI via Bermuda. Through three days of really nasty weather 500 miles from any land, the Airex wind generator powered the Raymarine auto pilot sailing us directly to Bermuda. We stayed dry in the cockpit, cooked meals, and became quite relaxed while 25,..30’ seas rose and fell randomly all around us. We arrived two days before a couple of larger boats that had left St. Thomas with us. Both gave the same comment, “ oh you have a Vanguard .”
In 2007 the boat was totally refitted at Isletta Maeinain Puerto Rico. New 3cyl Kubota diesel, standard Horizon CPV 350 (radio chart plotter) pressure hot and cold water with cockpit freshwater shower. Delfin11 sails in the beautiful Chester Basin Nova Scotia and may be for sail as I am pressed by the family, complete with one coast guard SAR tech son, to get into power. 🤔Photos
