Description
GRAYCEFUL is an International DRAGON class sailboat designed by world famous designer Johan Anker in 1929 to be a small cruising boat, complete with 2 berths and other sparse provisions, to be sailed off the coast of Norway. Grayceful conforms to these criteria. The design quickly gained popularity and in 1948 was named an Olympic class boat, an honor retained by the class until 1972.
GRAYCEFUL was built by Borresen Badebyggeriet (boatyard) in Denmark in 1972 of the finest materials and workmanship. To insure her longevity she received extensive repairs by Benjamin River Marine. Her frames are white oak and she is planked (TIGHT SEAMED) with mahogany. When you see her you can only ask yourself “How did they do that?!?!”
The DRAGON Class is probably Anker’s most successful design. There is an active class association that sponsors competitive racing world wide. There are over 1,400 Dragons registered with the association and countless other owners enjoying splendid day sailing and cruising.
