Description
Imported into the US in 2017, this is one of the few Romillys on this side of the pond. She is a shoal draft lug rigged, limited overnight, day boat. As an Irens designed she is a ‘hitech’ traditional boat. Big cockpit, small sleepable cabin. Full batten standing lug main on carbon spars. Small lug rigged mizzen. She has been on her trailer in my dooryard since 2019 when Covid shut things down. Trailer has new tires; boat is on a launching dolly. I’ve been pecking away at little things including a new electric outboard (36v Minnkota) spar painting, cabin top rework. After I got her I pulled the steel foiled centerboard, faired and glassed it. Quite narrow with a high ballast/ displacement ratio, she doesn’t take much wind to move. Sails are original, but full battens mean they last a long time. Little used full cockpit tent. New mainsail cover and cockpit cover. I bought the boat from the boating writer Nic Compton. Hitting my 80th this year so time to do some divesting. Best description is on https://www.roxane-romilly.co.uk/. And I can share lots of information about the boat.
