Vivienne is an exceptionally rare find! Boathouse kept for over 75 years. In the same family for 54 years before her extensive hull restoration began. She is a work of art and the jewel of all Stephens Bros Yachts. Burmese Teak and Port Orford Cedar, Complete documentation of 18 month professional yard restoration. Sea Master Engines removed and completely overhauled, new coast guard approved fuel and water tanks installed, hull refastened with over 8,500 #16 silicon bronze screws, new purple heart floors timbers, all 3/8 galvanized keel bolts replaced with 5/8 silicon bronze. Custom pearl paint, all hardware re-chromed and revarnished teak.
Vivienne was custom built for famous Hollywood screenwriter, Harvey Thew known for his Warner Brothers work “The Man from Blankley’s” and “The Mad Genius” starring John Barrymore, the classic gangster film “Public Enemy” starring James Cagney and Edward G. Robinson’s “Silver Dollar”. Harvey went on to write for MGM and Paramount. Vivienne Thew was a Ziegfeld Follies girl and great beauty. The vessel enjoys a rich Hollywood history.
Vivienne was built in 1930 by Stephens Bros of Stockton California – one of the premier yacht builders in the United States. The Stephens Brothers boatbuilding firm in Stockton operated from 1902 to 1987. Over the years the company became famous for its elegantly designed pleasure craft and their quality of construction, including sailboats, speedboats, cruisers and private yachts and the company was economically successful even during the Great Depression. Today, Stephens Bros boats are highly prized as “Collector Items”. Stephens Bros documents, photographs and original drawings are available to the public at the Haggin Museum in Stockton California.
Over $200,000 invested in her custom restoration by her current owners who specialize in classic yacht restoration and interiors, Vivienne is now being offered at a point in her refit where her new owners can customize her interior finishes to their own tastes. Current owners will remain available to assist in her completion if desired. The boathouse in which Vivienne is kept is also available for rent or purchase to new owner.Photos
