Owner’s Description
LITTLE GREMLIN is a 12-ft. MB sailing dinghy designed by E. Arthur Schuman Jr. and built by Graves of Marblehead in 1940. Constructed of Philippine mahogany, these lapstrake dinghies cost $250 complete.
Fleets were organized in Marblehead and Manchester during the war years to teach youngsters to sail at a time when many yacht club activities were curtailed. LITTLE GREMLIN (ex WAYWARD) is one of ten boats originally from the Manchester Yacht Club. My family acquired LITTLE GREMLIN in 1964, and we keep her in Manchester harbor, close by our U.S. Navy 26-ft. whaleboat, GREMLIN. We believe that LITTLE GREMLIN may be the last surviving MB dinghy.Photos
