Owner’s Description
26′ Landing School 26, Moccasin
Twenty-six foot cold-molded sloop rig designed by Maine naval architect, Ken Rosinek. Built by the Landing School in Kennebunk, Maine in 1997. She has an above the waterline appearance in the tradition of N. G. Herreshoff’s iconic Alerion but with a modern underbody consisting of a fin keel and spade rudder. Down below is a sink, one burner stove, porta-potti, two reading chair stations and a generous v-berth. The original sail plan included a 130% genoa sheeted to outboard tracks but I converted the headsail to a 100% jib sheeted on a narrow angle to tracks on the house top. This allows for better pointing and quicker tacks without a reduction in speed in any breeze over 6-7 knots. The boat is easily single handed but the large cockpit can handle a crowd as well. She is professionally stored and maintained at Safe Harbor Great Island (ME).Photos
