Owner’s Description
Åland’s Cultural History Museum’s mission is to tell about an island community which, through its location in the middle of the Baltic Sea, has made the population – both willing and sometimes reluctant – recipients of the outside world’s impulses. Åland has had a Swedish history, a Russian history and since 1921 a history as an autonomous part of Finland. All eras have left their mark. Åland’s Cultural History Museum reopened in August 2016 and in the totally renewed basic exhibition, visitors can experience 7,500 years of Åland’s history.
