Owner’s Description
The Scottish Fisheries Museum tells the story of fishing in Scotland, and the people involved in the industry, from earliest times to the present.
The collections are truly inspiring. They exhibit wonderful examples of historic fishing boats and gear and help to illustrate the geography and social structures of our fishing communities. They allow the museum to honour their ways of life, skills, customs, dress, creativity and resilience, and to improve understanding of the various external circumstances, environmental, technological, political and commercial, which had and still continue to have such an impact upon them.
The Scottish Fisheries Museum is also home to two sea going historic ships in their collections Reaper FR958 and White Wing ME113. When they are not out at see they can be seen in the picturesque Anstruther Harbour.
