Waikouaiti Coast Heritage Centre

Our collection of 9000 items dates from the 19th century whaling days of the Waikouaiti area. Memorabilia and artefacts are displayed in an historic building, one of the oldest banks in the country that is still in use. The heritage centre is currently undergoing a major redevelopment project which will see a new purpose-built exhibition centre added to the existing heritage precinct. As well, the current museum building will be renovated to return it to its early glory.
