Owner’s Description
A french photographer and journalist.
In 1956, Le Yacht (oldest French sailing magazine) published for the first time a photograph of Christian February. He is 18 years old. In 1962, Christian February joined the Edip advertising agency in Paris as a graphic designer. Two years later, he set up on his own and discovered ocean racing with André Viant. In 1967, on Esprit de Rueil, they won as a crew all the races of the RORC ( Royal Ocean Racing Club ), including the Fastnet . It was during this period that Christian February bought a second-hand Zorki and start shooting while racing. Among his sources of inspiration, Keith Beken, the great Cowes photographer, obviously holds a special place. But his first reference remains the French Erwan Quéméré. His entire career has been spent using film. To frame his images as closely as possible, Christian February uses powerful telephoto lenses like the 300 / 2.8, 500/4 and 600/4.
In 1978, he joined Daniel Allisy, who had just founded his sea photography agency Sea & See. In the early 2000s, he participated, as an advisor and photographer to Karren May, in the creation of the international photographic agency Bluegreen Pictures 5 , specializing in sea and nature. In 2005, the agency employed around thirty international photographers.
