Owner’s Description
George Calkins designed the Bartender seeing a need for a shallow draft planing boat that would safely handle rough sea conditions particularly crossing the river bars off the Northwest (US) coast. The design was based on the seaworthy surf dories used by local area fishermen. The 22’ Bartender was the original design. Its success was quickly recognized and plans were drawn for amateur boat builders. Later, the 19’, 20.5’, 26, and 29’ Bartenders were developed. Bartender Boats continues to offer George Calkins’ Bartender plans. The 19’, 20.5’ and 22’ plans have been redrawn in CAD and full-size frame patterns developed. This allows building of a Bartender without having to loft the hull lines. The 26′ and 29′ plans are still offered in the original drawings.
In Addition, Bartender Boats sells plans for Tad Roberts’ 22′ TimberCoast Troller design and George Calkins’ small sailboat designs.
