32’ Alden Malabar Jr Sloop (1950) - POCO MOTOR

Alden designed Malabar Junior 32 foot sloop. Built in Tacoma in 1950. One of several sister ships, a few of which are still Sailing Puget Sound.

She is currently sailing like a dream on Lake Union. Hauled out in 2024, repainted and the engine was significantly rebuilt. A 1987 Volvo penta model 2002 two cylinder diesel. Injectors, high and low pressure pumps, and heat exchanger were rebuilt. The low pressure pump was replaced. New starter and alternator we’re installed. Two new batteries. Also a new Raycor fuel filter, fuel lines and water hoses. Engine runs well with, just a little smoke starting up.

The mast and boom are in Bristol condition. The tiller is new. Other bright work still being refinished.
Wire halyards were replaced in 2025 by Ballard Sails with new Dynema.

She’s a beauty and fun to sail. I’m well along in a restoration / update process. I believe the electrical and plumbing should be updated to make her fully reliable and functional for cruising.
This is a job that requires more than one person to take on. So I am looking for one or more persons who love old wood boats, and enjoy working on them.
