Owner’s Description
“Olive” is a 25-ft, sloop-rigged sailboat, originally built in 1964 by Cheoy Lee Shipyards in Hong Kong. Her hull is solid fiberglass, similar in shape to a Nordic folkboat or a Contessa 26, with a steeply raked transom, full keel, cutaway forefoot, and spoon-shaped bow. Besides her hull, she is constructed mainly of wood, with teak decks laid over plywood, solid teak cabin sides, and a plywood cabin top sprung over sawn timber frames and sheathed above with fiberglass. Intricate carvings of dragons are located inside her cabin, where the “doghouse” steps up to provide headroom. She is still powered by her original, one-cylinder Volvo MD1B diesel, which continues to provide very reliable propulsion, albeit slower and noisier than a modern diesel. Her original spruce mast and spars were replaced with aluminum spars by a previous owner.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
