Owner’s Description
Built by Thomas Jackett in Falmouth in 1912, Curlew was originally a Falmouth Quay Punt employed in servicing the many seagoing vessels that visited Falmouth. She carries her original sail and spar plan, which enabled quay punts to go alongside square rigged ships below their yards.
Restored and returned to the Carrick Roads, she is back in the waters where she sailed when she was owned by artist, Henry Scott Tuke.
Curlew’s restoration was as authentic as possible, retaining mostly block and tackle on the running rigging. The sails are Clipper Canvas and the spars are solid timber.
Bound for Greenland one day, we’re hoping to be adding a few modifications to allow safer offshore cruising.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
