Owner’s Description
Modified Weston Farmer “Sundance” 17.5’ camp cruiser.
The boat was built to Sundance design in 2006 in Willapa Bay, WA. We purchased the hull from Marty Loken, designed and added a pilot house in 2021, which offers comfortable cruising in our climate.
250W solar cells and a 100Ah lithium battery produce ample power to run our iPad nav program, charge phones, run the anchor light and we can recharge our Spirit1 motor when necessary. The Spirit1 is our backup propulsion and also is great for long expeditions in the dinghy.
We have explored Puget Sound and, the San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound and on to Sonora Island. We normally cruise for the month of May in Canadian waters, sometimes in the fall as well. We have found Flo to be e a very capable cruiser if we let weather and tides guide our travels. Our last trip to Sonora Island we saw bear on shore, dolphin and orca nearby …
Bunks are under the raised deck and we store other gear on the bunks when underway. Our butane one burner stove fits on the nav station when at anchor.
