Owner’s Description
18′ Whitehall (Alaska) designed by
Don Kurylko. She has a cat ketch rig, is strip planked with white cedar over laminated mahogany frames with teak thwarts and trim. She was launched in Center Harbor ME in August 2025 after a 650+ hours of work over the last 2 1/2 years. After Maine we made several trip to southern CT to sail on the Long Island sound and one sail in the Boston Harbor launching from Winthrop. As a design she has succeeded all expectations, fast and efficient under both sail and oar easily handling 4 adults. The cat ketch rig allows for easy single handing, after launching I can row to a place where I have a little room to drift, hoist the mizen from the cockpit and take my time hanging the ruder putting in the daggerboard and hoisting the main while while she sits into the wind as long as I need.
The plan this winter and spring is to add a sleeping platform and figure out a boom tent for a summer of camp cruising.Already a member? Log in herePhotos
